Guelph Youth Music Centre adopts the Guelph School of Music

The Guelph Youth Music Centre (GYMC) will be adopting the Guelph School of Music (GSM) into its family of programs beginning July 1, 2022.

The GSM’s current owner/director, Tracey Clarke-Rankine, recently announced her retirement after 16 years of leading the school. She is a supporter of the GYMC and wanted her school to be part of the centre. A proposal was made for the GYMC to purchase the school’s four grand pianos and to accept ownership of the GSM. It did not take long to conclude that it was an offer the GYMC couldn’t refuse.

“We are honoured to continue the good work and programs of the Guelph School of Music which Tracey has nurtured for almost two decades,” commented GYMC Executive Director, Gabriella Currie-Ziegler. “We welcome all students, parents, and teachers into the GYMC community and look forward to continuing to work together. These programs have been offered at the GYMC, so adopting the GSM was a natural fit. And we’ll be adding more instruments to our program lessons!”

The Guelph School of Music 2022-23 academic year will mark 25 years of providing music lessons to students of all ages and levels in Guelph and the wider community. Its long history of providing high-quality and professional private lessons for its students in piano, guitar, voice, violin, and all theoretical subjects is well established. GSM owner, Tracey Clarke-Rankine commented, “It has been my great pleasure to oversee the growth and development of the Guelph School of Music these last 16 years. I am confident that the school will continue to flourish and provide excellence in music education under the umbrella of the Guelph Youth Music Centre.”

In the past, the GSM has offered woodwind lessons and those, and more, should be available by September.

Registration for the 2022-23 academic year is now open for new and returning students in private lessons or classes. To register or for more information visit: guelphschoolofmusic.ca.
