Silas Chinsen received his M.Mus and B.Mus in classical guitar performance and voice performance from the University of Ottawa graduating summa cum laude. He has taught music professionally for the past nine years and believes that any student can achieve their musical goals through learning how to “practice properly”. This involves utilizing creative problem solving, mindfulness, and specific mental strategies to create a fun practice routine which accelerates muscle memory development.

Above all, Silas wants to give his students a positive experience to nurture their love for music and enjoy the process of learning. He teaches Guitar, Ukulele, Bass Guitar, Voice and Piano. Silas also teaches pop, rock, jazz, classical, and other styles through transcribing students’ favorite songs, method books, improvisation, and specific technical exercises tailored for each student. In addition to focusing on repertoire and technique, Silas also teaches theory, ear training, and composition.
