Chris Fischer is a teacher of voice and piano with more than 25 years of studio experience. The holder of a Master of Music degree (choral music education) from Arizona State University, an Honours Bachelor of Music degree (vocal performance) from Wilfrid Laurier University, and Associate diplomas from the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO, in organ) and Conservatory Canada (piano – teacher), they are well known in the region as an expressive and versatile tenor soloist, professional chorister, organist, choral conductor, collaborative pianist, and vocal coach.
Chris’ solo recordings include Orff’s Carmina Burana (2010), Handel’s Messiah (2011), and Andrew T. Miller’s The Birth of Christ (2018), with Masterworks of Oakville; Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols with the Guelph Chamber Choir (2010); two collections of the music of Canadian composer Ronald Beckett, the opera Ruth (2006), and Welcome Yule! (2001); and the Canadian premiere recording of This Love between Us (2019), by the Indian-American composer Reena Esmail.
Chris has sung with the Grammy- and Juno-nominated Elora Singers since 2012, and has served Guelph’s Knox Presbyterian Church as music director for over 13 years. A past recipient of the RCCO Healey Willan Prize, they have toured England and Wales as an organ recitalist, and have presented at conferences and workshops for musicians, clergy, and music educators in Ontario and Alberta.
